Payments and taxes
Take UPI and payment link payments for orders, with GST
Ask My Bot lets customers pay you directly for their orders. Add your own payment link or upload your UPI or payment QR code, and customers see it after ordering, pay in their own app and tap I've paid; your staff verify the payment in Kiosk → Orders. Ask My Bot does not process or hold payments. You can also record cash, card and counter payments, offer cash on delivery, and add taxes such as CGST and SGST that show on every cart, receipt and report.
What you can do
Get paid in the app you already use
Use the QR code from PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM or your bank, or any HTTPS payment page. Money goes straight to your account.
Amount filled in for the customer
For INR orders with a business UPI QR, the payment QR and the UPI buttons carry the order balance, so customers don't type the amount.
Know what is paid
Orders show Payment submitted—waiting for verification, the submitted and verified amounts, and the balance. The customer's receipt updates live once you verify.
Cash and counter payments too
Mark as paid works for cash at the counter, bank transfer, card machines and cash on delivery, and is recorded in the order's audit log.
GST-ready bills
Each tax line appears on the cart, checkout, order page, printed receipt, saved receipt image and order webhook, with your GSTIN printed on receipts.
Day-end figures
Reports split sales by how orders were paid (Online, Cash, Paid at counter, Not paid yet) and show each tax for the period.
Set up payments and taxes
Step 1
Add how customers pay
As the bot owner, open Settings → Ordering → Payments & taxes, turn on Online payment, enter a label such as Pay with PhonePe, then paste an HTTPS payment link, upload your UPI or payment QR code, or both.
Step 2
Turn on taxes if you charge them
Under Taxes, turn on Taxes. Rupee kiosks start with CGST 2.5% and SGST 2.5%; add up to 4 taxes, choose whether prices include or exclude tax, and add your GSTIN or tax ID for receipts.
Step 3
Customers pay you directly
After ordering, the customer opens the payment window with your QR code or link, pays in their own app, and taps I've paid. No transaction or UTR number is asked for.
Step 4
Staff verify the payment
In Kiosk → Orders, compare the amount with your payment account and choose Verify payment or Reject. For cash, card or counter payments, choose Mark as paid.
A good fit for
- Restaurants and cafés that collect payment at the table or the counter.
- Shops and home businesses that already take UPI or payment-link payments.
- Hotels that bill room service at check-out or in cash.
- Any business that needs tax lines such as CGST and SGST on its bills.
Good to know
- Payment processing is not included: there is no automatic payment confirmation, settlement or refund. Handle refunds with the customer directly.
- You can't save Online payment turned on without a link or a QR code. Payment links must use HTTPS and can't contain a username or password.
- Customers can't edit or cancel an order through the receipt once a payment is submitted or verified.
- Online payment, fulfillment options and taxes are optional; plain checkout simply places the order.
Frequently asked questions
Does Ask My Bot process payments?
No. Ask My Bot never receives or holds the money. Customers pay you directly through your own payment link or UPI QR code, in cash, or at the counter, and your staff confirm the payment in Kiosk → Orders. Opening the link or tapping I've paid does not mark an order paid by itself.
Which payment QR codes can I upload?
The QR image from your UPI or payment app, as PNG, JPEG, WebP (up to 5 MB) or an iPhone HEIC photo (up to 10 MB). Use Replace or Remove to change it later. If you only have a link, you can turn on Generate a QR code from the link.
Can customers on the same phone tap to pay with UPI?
Yes, with a business UPI QR from PhonePe Business, Google Pay for Business, Paytm for Business or your bank. Settings show Business UPI found, and customers see Pay with UPI app on Android, or PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm buttons on iPhone, with the order balance filled in for INR orders. A personal UPI ID gets Save QR code instead, because UPI apps may decline tap-to-pay to personal accounts.
When do customers see Pay now?
When a fulfillment option offers Pay online, the customer sees Place order & pay at checkout. For a plain Kiosk order, Pay now appears after staff confirm or fulfil it. For a room or table order, it appears after the order is served, so guests pay at the end, and they can also choose I'll pay in cash.
Can I offer cash on delivery or pay at the counter?
Yes. In Settings → Delivery & pickup, each fulfillment option can offer Pay online, a manual label such as Pay at counter or Pay at table, and Delivery can offer Cash on delivery. Record those payments with Mark as paid.
How are CGST and SGST calculated?
Tax is charged on the item subtotal, never on the delivery fee. With Exclude tax, it is added at checkout: a ₹100 order with CGST 2.5% and SGST 2.5% costs ₹105. With Include tax, your prices already contain it and the bill shows the tax inside the price.
Do old orders change when I change tax rates?
No. Each order keeps the rates it was placed with, and items added later use that order's rates. Only new orders use the new rates.
Who can set up payments and taxes?
Only the bot owner can set the payment link or QR code. The owner and admin collaborators can set up taxes. Both are available on every plan that includes Kiosk, including Free.
